I'm really pleased with this gate. It's slightly different from the others in that I've tried to focus on the inherent qualities of weaving, the textures created and the unfolding pattern. I feel the use of re-cycled baling twine maybe enough of a reference towards sustainability without employing the more didactic use of graphs. The weaving of the geometric pattern onto the gate has many references, but primarily it relates to how we 'as a race' impose order and patterns upon nature to sustain our ever increasing demands for food production. Field management systems have been a long term interest of mine and is something I'll be exploring in a variety of mediums this year.
